Week beginning February 28th - Oscars, Earthquake, Emma, Cafe Society awards

This week is sad week but it is also a week of celebration. I tell you, the emotions of running a cafe....unbelievable.

Emma - So we no longer have our Emma, she has left to have her baby hopefully on or before March 16th. We had a fab day on Friday as her last day with presents and gifts from customers and a tearful farwell at the end. We really wish her and partner Ian all the very best for the future.

Earthquake - The disaster in Christchurch is terrible, we cannot even begin to imagine what it must be like over there. Luckily for us there is no-one we know who has been badly affected, but the town will take a long time to come back from this. Thank you to all who have asked about our friends and family. Kaffeine will be organising a fundraiser soon like we did for the floods in Queensland.

Oscar Winners - We also would like to congratulate the boys and girls at Double Negative, who came home winners at the Oscars on Sunday for Special Visual Effects for Inception. Considering we supplied them with enough caffeine over the production period to sink a ship, we feel that we had at least a small part to play in this and we are very proud and happy for them. Well done.

Best Independent cafe Awards - Kaffeine has also been shortlisted for an award, this time the Cafe Society Best Independent Cafe 2010. Winners will be announced on March 22nd. We feel priviledged to be a part of it and to be shortlisted at all. Fingers crossed.

So, we hope you enjoy the week ahead. We will be.....
